For the past year or so, I've been using photography and art to explore how humans interact with nature in our modern world. Often, we create barriers between nature and ourselves, as if nature was a dangerous beast we need to keep at arms length. It's too easy to forget that nature surrounds us, supports us, and nurtures our very existence. Isn't it ironic that in this time of lock down, the only place we can go for enjoyment is the great outdoors? As I prepare to start my MFA program, I'm looking forward to delving deeper into this question of nature connection. I believe that our continued survival depends on whether we can change our relationship to nature.
